What is Incuity?
Incuity EMI has been designed specifically for use by manufacturing companies. It’s a Business Intelligence for Manufacturing solution that provides timely, clear and context rich manufacturing information to support better manufacturing decisions. Unlike typical BI systems, which are not suited to handling real-time plant information, Incuity EMI is able to integrate data from both business systems and real time production systems. Unlike production-oriented systems, Incuity EMI provides the analytical processing and presentation services of a BI solution.
Who would want access to Incuity
Potential users of Incuity include literally anyone who needs insight into manufacturing operations. How they use it will vary with their role – whether they are application builders who create reports and other output, or if they are a line of business users who are simply seeking better information on production operations. But Incuity is extremely useful to most anyone, whether they’re manufacturing personnel like engineers, production supervisors, operators, maintenance personnel, production schedulers and quality assurance personnel, or if they’re people not directly associated with manufacturing, like managers, accountants, sales people, customer support staff, buyers and transport managers.
Where is the data?
Manufacturing information is fragmented, residing in multiple different systems scattered across the enterprise. Each system has a different user interface. People find it impossible to access, correlate and interpret data from these different systems to make timely and good decisions. The Production Manager does not know how to connect to the business system, but it would be good if he could tie in gas and electricity consumption costs into his production reports. Incuity provides connectors into these disparate systems and allows the users to create models of their process. These models can contain a variety of data, including production and process information, machine information, operator ID, material consumption and costs, shift info etc.
Incuity allows you to easily access data from systems and software you already own! Manufacturing information can reside in multiple control systems and business applications. The trick is to access, correlate and interpret the data from these multiple systems.
Incuity does this by coexisting with your existing control systems and business applications, turning that data into useful information to improve your business – in all functional areas – by all decision makers. Incuity exposes the full value of the data locked in these systems by presenting a coherent picture of your manufacturing business through familiar browser and Microsoft Office interfaces.
Incuity provides the foundation for a range of manufacturing analytics including:
• Real time executive dashboards
• Automated production reporting
• Key Performance Indicator (KPI) monitoring and alerting
• Downtime analysis and reporting
• Process verification
• Process optimization
At the heart of Incuity are:
Collection Services to extract data from multiple sources, Data Services to integrate and manage the information and Presentation Services to empower people with manufacturing intelligence.
Connection Services
Incuity connects intelligently to a broad array of data sources in use by companies everywhere. Traditional
automation control systems, a full range of data historian products, a broad range of databases, data warehouses and a management applications as well as traditional MES and ERP systems.
Data Services
Incuity’s data services integrate silos of data across the manufacturing enterprise. The manufacturing data model reflects equipment, product/material and people relationships and provides a coherent and unified view of the data that is available – abstracting the specifics of where the data comes from and where is it stored. In-line transformation services clean and reformat the data as needed and can be
configured by the client tools to generate “calculated” variables. Master data management services either react to data definitions from master systems or assume role of master and transform the data.
Presentation Services
Casual users across the enterprise access timely, clear and context rich manufacturing information from the Incuity Portal via their browsers. Power users gain insight into the manufacturing process using powerful analytic applications or Microsoft Office and can quickly publish these insights to the web as flexible reports with the click of a button.
Developers and third party applications access the data via standard web services, standard scripting and object, OLAP and relational query interfaces. Analytical applications include the Incuity Trend and X-Y Plot. Users navigate through Incuity’s manufacturing model
to select equipment, material and time dimensions.
Microsoft Office Add-ins wizards make it easy to bring data from multiple control and business systems into the familiar but powerful environments of Word and Excel. Users can publish content directly to the web and collaborate by fetching and building upon existing published reports. All via the Incuity Portal. The Incuity Portal’s pre-configured reports and executive dashboard allow users from across the enterprise to immediately access Incuity’s rich manufacturing information.
Reports are generated on demand or on an automated schedule or event driven basis and can de distributed via Email.
An executive dashboard provides overview displays using familiar man machine interfaces like gauges, range indicators and LEDs.
Portal content quickly grows as users of Office and analytical applications publish and collaborate. End users can customize and personalize the portal. Incuity’s zero install client software, self configuring capabilities and pre-configured reports provide immediate insight into the manufacturing process, directly impacting business performance.
Incuity can be deployed at the line or equipment level and extend to cover plantwide and then enterprise-wide manufacturing information with the full reuse of engineering efforts.
