Proximity Sensors
Inductive proximity sensors are the preferred choice for the majority of applications requiring accurate, non-contact detection of metallic objects in machinery or automation equipment.
Capacitive sensors can be used to detect metal objects as well as nearly all other materials. These sensors are often used in applications including level, flow control for detection of liquids, grains and powders.
Magnetic field sensor selection consists of the M12 housing style for traditional magnetic detection applications. Also offered is a non-contact, piston detection sensor for use with steel hydraulic cylinders. These magnetic sensors offer reliable piston magnet detection and are easily mounted, without the need for mounting slots or holes in the cylinder.

Ultrasonic sensors present the ideal solution for non-contact position and distance measurement in all industrial areas where environmental conditions such as dust, smoke or steam may affect the sensors. Objects consisting of a variety of materials can be detected to within millimeters regardless of color or shape. Ultrasonic sensors have proven their reliability and precision in many industries, including lumber and furniture, construction materials and equipment, farming equipment and in level control applications. Pepperl+Fuchs’ ultrasonic sensors currently encompass twelve series of mechanical designs for through-beam, direct detection and retro-reflective operation.
The actuator sensor interface (AS-Interface) with special yellow flat cable supplies power to the sensors and actuators as well as allowing you to transfer data to a maximum of 62 nodes per AS-Interface network. The installation time and costs are much lower compared to conventional wiring technology.
The AS-Interface transfers data reliably, is extremely resistant to electromagnetic interference, has a diagnostic function and can detect faults such as short circuits. Retrofitting the AS-Interface is extremely simple.
Rotary encoders can be used in all applications that require monitoring rotation rate, speed, acceleration and direction. These sensors can be utilized in many applications found in mechanical engineering, the conveyor industry, material handling and the packaging industry.
